CureCMD
SAM has created a strategic alliance with international advocacy
group CureCMD in order to drive forward our efforts. We are now
delighted to say that we hope to work closely with them to help
synergise and direct fundraising, provide support to the CMD
community, attract scientists to the area of CMD research and
improve the standards of care for CMD families. Our ultimate goals
are the same - to find effective treatments and eventually a cure
for Congenital Muscular Dystrophy.
In July 2009 CureCMD with support from SAM brought together over
80 of the world's leading clinicians, researchers and scientists in
the field of neuro-muscular disease to a 3 day conference at Emory
University in Atlanta. By bringing researchers together
internationally and pulling together the collective bodies of
knowledge and raising funds we hope to be in a position to bring
greater focus and direction to research into treatments and an
eventual cure for CMD.
"Cure CMD's mission is to bring research, treatments and in the future, a cure for Congenital Muscular Dystrophies. Cure CMD will achieve this mission by working globally together with dedicated parent, government and research advocates. By focusing on this mission, Cure CMD will find and fund high potential research and clinical trials. Success will be determined by clinical applications that improve the lives of those afflicted with CMD's." (Richard Cloud, Chairman CureCMD)
